I was born in London, raised in Paris and in Rio with yearly trips to Greece where I moved to at the age of 25. A city girl, I never thought I would find my home on an island - first Amorgos and then Aegina where I live and work with my partner Yanis Zagorianakos.
This is where I discovered the art of ceramics. And it is here I realized that I belong to the earth, that what gives me roots is the very earth on which I stand, on which I walk, not a nation where I was born and raised. I do not have one single country nor one single language. My journey into ceramics offers me a home.
I follow the material itself, its texture and infinite possibilities, trying to listen to the suggestions that arise from the dialogue with clay, in silence and consciousness - a kind of a meditative study on the vessel, however clear or abstract it may be. Exploring clay, I explore all of what touches the human experience as well as the meeting point between craft, art and nature.

Remembering
Clay connects me to the earth. Clay binds earth with water. Clay remembers. It remembers not only my previous gestures, but all gestures and moves made by thousands of potters over thousands of years before me and after me.
Clay connects me with the others. In Mneme I connect with all other participants by observing what they are presenting, and participating in it. A container to carry water and measure time, build in 4 hands with Andreas to give Anna the water she needs to write her score. Observing and serving what will be performed as we all start exploring the space in and around the Old School of Kolofana. Preparing small mounds of clay, daily, to create a constantly changing and ephemeral, in situ installation with the participation of passers by and the artists present. The idea is not to predefine but to let things happen by listening and observing, by gathering and letting go, by touching. Inspired by the movement of water as it comes and goes in waves, as it flows in rivers, as it sits in wells; inspired by the speed of the burning flame and the movement of the invisible wind; inspired by the earth that transforms under the touch of our hands, under the heat of the flame, losing water and all organic matter to become somewhat immortal. Whether whole or broken, pieces of fired clay tell us of our ancestors's habits, choices, artistry...
